What actually happens to a neglected website
Nothing, for a while. Then a plugin with a known weakness gets scanned by a bot, and your site starts sending spam, redirecting visitors to somewhere else, or quietly mining cryptocurrency for a stranger. I have cleaned up exactly that, and it costs far more than a year of maintenance.
The slower failure is just as expensive: a contact form that broke in an update and nobody noticed for three months. Every enquiry in that period went nowhere.

Taking over a site someone else built
Audit before anything else
I check what it is running, what is outdated, whether backups exist and whether it has already been compromised. You get that report whether or not you continue.
Fix, then maintain
Anything broken or dangerous gets dealt with first, quoted separately. Only then does the monthly plan start.
No lock-in
The domain stays in your name and you can leave with 30 days' notice, with a full copy of the site.

What if I did not build the site with you?
That is fine. I audit the site first, fix what is broken, then take over maintenance.
Is hosting included?
It can be. Maintenance and hosting are usually bundled, but I will maintain a site hosted elsewhere too.
Can I cancel?
Yes, month to month with 30 days' notice. Nothing is locked in.
My site was built by someone else. Can you still maintain it?
Yes. It gets audited first, and anything broken is quoted separately before the monthly plan starts.
What if my site gets hacked while on a plan?
Cleanup and restoring from a clean backup are included. That is the point of the plan.
Do you update straight away when a plugin releases a patch?
Security patches go on immediately. Everything else is batched into the monthly run and tested afterwards.
Will you break my site with an update?
It happens to everyone occasionally, which is why there is a tested backup from that morning and why I check the site after every run.
